As a family-owned business that has been installing flooring for over 30 years, we take pride in the fact that many of our clients are comfortable leaving their home while we complete their project.
We're not saying you have to do that, but one of the questions we get asked all the time at Mudek Flooring after we schedule an upcoming project with a customer is, "How do I prepare my home for a flooring installation?"
Below are some preparation tips you can implement before our professional installation team arrives on-site, allowing them to get in and out of your home to get your project completed as quickly as possible. If you do need items moved for you, let us know and we'll add our furniture removal service to your estimate.
Clear Your Space
In general, clear the space your new flooring will be installed to the best of your ability. Move any small or decorative items that take up floor space out of the room. If you feel like taking on some bigger items or furniture, you can certainly do that as well, but only if you can do so safely. One of the first things our professional installers will do upon arriving is move any remaining large items out of the room in which the flooring will be installed.
Disconnect Entertainment Center
If your flooring is being installed in a family or entertainment room, disconnect your entertainment center prior to the installation team's arrival. If computers or printers are located in the room, disconnect those as well. Having all of your wires disconnected, cables bundled, and loose items organized will allow the installation team to skillfully move your entertainment center out of the space and prevent any accidents from occurring.
Break Down Beds
Disconnect the headboard from any beds if flooring is going to be installed in bedrooms. Doing so will allow the beds and bed frame to easily fit through any doorways the installation team will bring them through as they move them out of the room.
Remove Doors
Remove doors from any rooms flooring will be installed in. It makes it much easier to move any large items or furniture out of the room if the doors are removed.
These tips are meant to be a general reference, and will definitely vary based on where your project is going to be completed in your home. Performing some or all of these tasks before we get on site will help get your project done more efficiently, allowing you to take back your space and enjoy your new flooring as quickly as possible.
Need your items moved for you? We've got you covered. Just mention that to us and we'll make sure to add our furniture removal service into your project estimate.
