A Cloquet, Minnesota dental clinic reached out to us in search of new flooring. Their existing surfaces which were installed by us previously—VCT tile in the operating rooms and broadloom commercial carpet in the waiting, reception, hallway, and administrative areas—had been in place for over 20 years. The floors were showing heavy wear, and the clinic needed a solution that would modernize the space while also standing up to daily traffic, strict sanitation needs, and long-term performance.
Design: Finding the right fit.
After an initial phone consultation with the clinic’s owner and business manager, the manager scheduled a visit to our design showroom. In preparation, our team pulled together a selection of flooring samples that combined the contemporary look they wanted with the durability their environment required.
During the showroom visit, we refined the plan. For the operating rooms, the clinic needed a hard surface that was easy to clean. In the waiting and office areas, they preferred the comfort of carpet—but with a more modern look combined with durability. Together, we determined the best fit: commercial luxury vinyl plank for the operating rooms and commercial carpet tiles for the other spaces.
Measure: Preparing for Success
Once products were selected, our installation team visited the clinic to measure the space and finalize the layout. They not only mapped out the most efficient and visually appealing installation layout, but also solved a unique challenge: moving heavy dental chairs so flooring could be installed beneath them. Drawing on past experience, our team worked with the clinic owner to develop a safe, effective solution. With the plan in place, materials were ordered and installation dates scheduled.
Install: Minimizing Disruption
The installation team arrived promptly and got to work. On day one, they removed the existing flooring, moved furniture, and prepped the subsurface. Day two saw the installation of carpet tiles, followed by luxury vinyl plank in the operating rooms on day three. To reduce disruption, most of the work was scheduled over a weekend. The team actually finished a full day ahead of schedule, leaving the clinic spotless and ready for patients on Monday morning.
